What Would I do if I Win the Lottery?
Updated: Jun 4

Everyone is talking about the Powerball drawing coming up and with a jackpot of $900 million it does prompts me to dream, what would I do with all that money?
I’ve heard a gamete of differing opinions, ranging from those who want to use their winnings to pay for prostitutes and cocaine and those who wish to donate most of their newfound wealth.
Would that money change you? Would it a take you from a humble, kind person to this insatiable, intolerable monster?
I like to think that winning the lottery will not change me, that I would donate most, be grateful for what I have and continue to live my life in a similar way. The only thing that will change would be the peace of mind that comes with knowing that I have enough money to last my son and me a lifetime and wouldn’t have to worry about it.
However, there is evidence that such an obscene amount of money would change someone. Does MC Hammer ring a bell to anyone? The poor man saw money coming in and decided to do it like Oprah, “you get a car! You get a car! You get a car!”. Next thing you know, he didn’t have a car, a home and most of all he didn’t have any friends. Money like this will make you lose your mind!
Most of the time with money comes fame, and we have seen how that one plays out. Child stars are forever broken when they no longer get validation from adoring fans and turn to destructive behavior to get the high they used to get. Surely, this money WILL change someone who is not acquainted with having much.
I would like to think that I would keep a level head, donate most, so it doesn’t drive me crazy, and stash enough of it away for my son. Would I continue to work? Yeah! But with a whole different attitude. Would I buy a big mansion? Heck no! That’s too much cleaning, and I am certainly not hiring a strange lady to come to my house and do it for me.
The two things I would splurge on would be a meal service and traveling. I don’t like to cook, and I love to visit new places. With my winnings, I would undoubtedly lessen one and increase the other.
Now back to dreaming, because it doesn’t cost anything. What would you do if you win the lottery? XOXO Johanny
